Smart ring subscriptions: what you pay for after you buy the ring
It depends on the maker. Oura charges a membership for its full insights, Ultrahuman says it has no recurring subscription fees, and Zenlyf makes the ring's readings free and charges only for extra features. Always check what the ring does without the paid plan before you buy.
Why this matters more than the ring price
A smart ring is a sensor on your finger. What you see from the data lives in an app, and some makers charge for that app's insights. Over two or three years, a monthly fee can cost as much as the ring. So compare the total, not just the sticker price.
What the makers say on their own pages
- Oura: membership is $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year, using US pricing, and the first month is free for new members. Oura says that without membership the ring and app still work, but the insights and benefits are much more limited.
- Ultrahuman: its Nigeria page says there are no recurring subscription fees for accessing your data. It lists optional paid add-ons separately.
- Zenlyf: Your ring's readings are free to see. The AI companion, WhatsApp assistant and Zenlyf Link are part of Plus and Pro.

What it adds up to
Take Oura's annual price. At $69.99 a year, three years of membership comes to $209.97, in US dollars and on US pricing, on top of what you paid for the ring. That is simple multiplication of Oura's listed price, not a quote, and it assumes the price does not change. The free first month for new members does not change the picture much over several years.
A no-subscription ring avoids that running cost, but check what you give up. Ultrahuman lists optional paid extras separately, so read what is and is not included in the ring price before you decide.

- What can I see without paying anything? Ask for the list, not a summary.
- What does the fee unlock, and do I need those things?
- What happens to my history if I stop paying?
- What is the fee in my own currency, and how do I pay it?
